(contents may vary slightly depending on availability). Patton's Counter Attack - World War II Battle of the Bulge Tri-Series Playset #3.When Hitler's last great push to the West erupted out of the Ardennes forest at Christmastime, 1944, the Nazi armored thrust was blunted at the small but strategically crucial crossroads town of Bastogne, in Belgium. There, American troops, fighting with low ammunition, few medical supplies, no winter clothing or white camouflage suits, no air cover and very little artillery support, withstood relentless attacks by massive German tank and infantry units. The beleaguered Yanks held out for seven days, repelling everything the Germans threw at them.
Then, on December 26th the spearhead of General Patton's counter-attack broke through the German lines and opened a corridor for supplies and reinforcements to reach the town. Relief had come at last and the German offensive was doomed. Set #3 of our Battle of the Bulge Tri Series range recreates the rush of Patton's armored spearhead to reach Bastogne before it fell to the Germans. This is one of three different, but inter-connected, Toy Soldier Company Battle of the Bulge playsets.
Each set can stand on its own, but when combined with the other two sets from the same range the resulting collection creates a broad canvas upon which you and your kids can rewrite history!
