Here is one of the hardest to find Marx train related toys out there. Produced in 1962, it is The Flintstones Bedrock Express! This example is wonderful, with crisp colors both on the box and on the vacu-formed plastic base. That plastic model of Bedrock has NO CRACKS in it, which is virtually impossible to find today, some 60 plus years after this was manufactured! The "log" handcar with Fred Flintstone and Barney Rubble working it is in fantastic and complete shape, and as you can see in the short test video it does still run.

And all of the palm trees and shrubbery are here as well! The playset folks will SORT OF recognize the foliage but look a little closer! While the green "leaves" are the same as used in a coupler of other Marx playsets like Captain Gallant, the trunks of those trees are different!

They do NOT have the flat bases on them like playset palm trees; they have small plastic "plugs" on the bottom so that they can plug into the vacu-formed base! I believe this was ONLY used in this set, and all three are here!

One of them was broken and reglued (see closeup photo), but you do have all three of them. This is one of those sets that you maybe see up for sale once every couple of years or so!

The crisp box is a real plus, almost looks store-new! I've included many pictures of the box, the vacu-formed "Bedrock" base, and the parts and handcar, with a yardstick in most shots for size reference, so that you can judge this gem for yourself.

The box measures an impressive 26 1/2 inches by 22 1/2 inches by 2 1/2 inches! Even just the box on display is impressive! I did manage to locate the "roofs" for the 3 stone "buildings" in Bedrock, but after I did the initial photos, so they are in their own pictures (fronts and backs - all the pins on them are fully intact).

Priced fairly for a toy of such rarity, should be a welcome addition to your Marx train, Hanna-Barbera collection, Flintstones collection, or perhaps the centerpiece of someone's general toy collection.
