MARX 1960 Line-Mar Elegant ANIMAL tin metal figures Complete Set in Display Box

In 1960 I was a boy of 6 years old with a passionate fascination for animals that would remain for the rest of my life. While visiting a local dimestore, I beheld a display similar to this boxed set of figures by Line-Mar (Marx) of Japan. The figures were available for sale in individual illustrated boxes for.

That doesn't sound like much by today's standards but back then being from a lower income family it was a considerable amount. I walked over 1 mile - something you could do in those days and not feel at risk - and made my selection of figures. As I opened each box carefully, to my horror 9 of the 10 boxes were empty. The clerk checked all the boxes in stock and found most were empty. It took me over 30 years to learn the identity of these figures again and find them at a major toy show.

Here, for sale, is a complete set of 36 hand painted tin metal miniature figures from the Elegant series by Line-Mar (Marx) of Japan in the original color display boxed set. The string that held each figure in place has been replaced with a fine piece of wire and some of the seams of the box are split but intact. Each figure in is very fine condition with the painted details and all legs and antlers intact. Of the 36 total figure there are 6 Farm animals: Bull, Cow, Donkey, Horse, Pig, & Sheep, 6 Dogs: Setter, Pointer, German Shepherd, Doberman, Boston Terrier, & Airedale, 6 Dinosaurs: Brontosaurus, Kronosaurus, Plateosaurus, Pteranodon, Stegosaurus, & Tyrannosaurus Rex, and 18 wild animals: Bear, Bison, Camel, buck Deer, Elephant, Giraffe, Gorilla, Hippopotamus, Kangaroo, Lion, Moose, Panther, Wild Boar, Polar Bear, Rhinoceros, Seal, Tiger, and Zebra.
