Marx 4701 Series 5000 Ben-hur Playset Complete Original Vintage

BEN-HUR SERIES 5000 all original vintage with original box & Instructions. 1 year only set, 1959 -- "This is the big one, boys" -- I'll never forget Terry Geppert (Tim's brother) of the ad for this huge Series 5000 set with eight chariots. This to me is the ultimate Christmas gift/ playset. Splendor of Rome, a crown jewel of collecting. And it is huge filled with rare, terrible to acquire parts.

Photo of all the chariots to show all have intact, non-split harnesses but there are 3 splits shown in very last image. All 8 Chariots, in correct colors, 16 horses in matched pairs.

All 6 sets of minty, matched original figures 96 figures in their original groups. 19 of 21 original tent points (3 or 4 show different shades of white). 3 tips broke off into awnings so could be glued in to be'whole again. All 3 Character figures clean, matching purple, excellent.

Both lions den gates with perfect unbroken pulls. All 8 stadium connecting clips w/ original sprue. All 3 catapults w/ rocks, perfect.

All 4 Lions & Tigers. All 16 pennants all matched original excellent. All 3 tents - 1 broken off pint. All three tent awnings 1 broke corner.

Fruit stand has intact tool insert - 1 missing. Fruit stand awning does NOT have pegs, one corner clipped. 3 chariots have split lattice.

Because it is hard to see I want to point out color of white accessories in tent group, some pillows, and a couple other pieces, are darker. 19 of 21 needed tent points included and spru for tent points. Fruit stand awning has poles but does NOT have pegs, one corner clipped. Tent Group: All 6 Tent poles present but look closely - tips of 3 are still in the awnings, and 2 are glued into awnings.

Original Instructions Included - Green inked version (red also made) very good. Box is not perfect; but this is a VERY hard to find better box. Both ends have pulls as shown and there are minor abrasions. I did get a mint set and it doesn't really make sense to have two o f these so, I hope you can use it.
